Society Amends Proposal,
Then Adopts By-Laws Changes

Members of the Schoharie County Historical Society on April 26 amended proposed changes in the bylaws and then ratified the document.

The amendment was to the proposed Article IX, Section 3, “Corporate Securities.” It was changed from the text published in the Spring 2002 REVIEW to read as follows:    Section 3. Corporate Securities. All corporate securities owned by the Society shall be registered in the name of the Society. Any assignment thereof shall be executed in the name of the Society by any two of the following: The President, the Treasurer or any other member of the Finance Committee, and such signatures shall be conclusive evidence of authority to make the assignment, and to sell, transfer, and deliver the security or securities so assigned, and may be relied upon by any person accepting such assignment in good faith.

As proposed, the signature of any one of the listed officers would have been sufficient to assign the securities. The new by-laws were unanimously adopted as amended.

Remodeled Courthouse Dedicated

The renovated court house, subject of an article in the Spring REVIEW, was dedicated on June 15, 2002. We note for the record that the general contractor held an orderly demonstration to protest non-payment of his bill by the county.

Back Issues of the REVIEW Are Sought

For many years, former REVIEW editor Mary van Order Norton sent copies of the REVIEW to the Daughters of the American Revolution library in Washington, D.C. Following her death, Edna and Priscilla Smith continued the mailings.

The library lacks some of the earliest issues and is interested in completing their set. They need No. 1, April 1937; No. 2, July 1937; No. 3, October, 1937; No. 5, April 1938; No. 8, January 1939; No. 9, April 1939; and No. 13, April 1940.
